- Sleeper Berth Provision: Truck drivers using the sleeper birth provisions must take at least 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper berth, plus a separate 2 consecutive hours either in the sleeper berth, off duty, or any combination of the two.
Alcohol And Drug Use

Understanding this, law makers have taken steps to address these risks. In many states, truck drivers are prohibited from operating a truck with a blood alcohol level of .04 percent or above.
