Earlier this afternoon one man was killed and five other people were injured in a car wreck involving three vehicles near Manchaca road in South Austin.
According to police officials the man veered across a center turn lane and hit another car driven by a woman head on. The man is believed to be in his 20s, and has not been identified. The woman driving the other car was transported to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center by ambulance in critical condition. A passenger driving with the deceased man was transported to the same hospital and is expected to be okay. Three others were injured when their vehicle was unable to stop. They were also transported to the hospital, but their injuries are reportedly less serious and they are expected to be okay.
As a result of the crash Manchaca road was closed off in between Slaughter Lane and Old Manchaca Road.
