18-Wheeler Driver Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision

The driver of an 18-wheeler truck was killed late last night after hitting another vehicle. The wreck occurred at about 11 p.m. on Interstate 16 westbound and Interstate 75 northbound near Macon, Georgia.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, an Acura SUV driven by a 73-year-old female west sideswiped by an 18-wheeler. The Acura driver then put her blinkers on in an attempt to get to the shoulder of the road, but was struck again from behind by a different 18-wheeler truck. The driver of the second truck was killed as a result of the collision.

The driver of the Acura, Anh Merritt, was sent to the hospital for chest pains. Most of the roadways leading up to the accident have also been closed off. No official report has been released by authorities yet, as the accident remains under investigation.

It was not reported whether the driver of the first 18-wheeler sustained any injuries.
