2 Killed in Wreck Involving 18-Wheeler Hauling Ammunition

Two people were killed yesterday after a fiery crash involving an 18-wheeler that was carrying a load of ammunition.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the two were driving in a big rig west on Interstate 40 through Franklin County, Arkansas. When they were at the intersection of Lone Elm Road, the front passenger-side’s tire blew out, causing the truck to go out of control, crash, and set afire.

The truck was reportedly hauling 40,000 pounds of ammunition in its trailer. Both the driver and passenger were stuck in the cab, and died as firefighters tried to put out the flames. The identities of the two deceased people have not been released yet.

No other vehicles or drivers/passengers were involved in the wreck. A police investigation is still ongoing for this crash.
