3 Injured in Arizona Tractor-Trailer Wreck on I-10

Three people were injured yesterday in a wreck involving two 18-wheelers on Interstate 10 near Tucson, Arizona. A passenger vehicle was also involved in the crash.

The incident unfolded when one of the 18-wheelers blew a tire while heading west on I-10, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The 18-wheeler then veered into the median, flipped on its side, and went into the eastbound lanes of traffic. The large truck then hit an eastbound 18-wheeler tanker truck head-on. A passenger vehicle was also tangled up in the collision.

Just after the collision both 18-wheelers burst into flames.

The driver of the first 18-wheeler refused treatment from emergency medical responders. However, the driver of the tanker truck sustained serious head injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital by helicopter. Two occupants in the passenger vehicle were also injured, and were treated at the scene and sent to hospitals in the Tucson area.

Officials have not yet released the names of any of the parties involved.
