Driver Cut Free From Wreckage After 18-Wheeler Crash

A driver was rescued from his car earlier this morning after he was struck by an 18-wheeler truck near Westford, Massachusetts.

According to witnesses, the driver of a blue Toyota sedan turned suddenly in front of an oncoming tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer smashed into the car and pinned it against a telephone pole, which was also damaged in the crash.

The driver of the Toyota reportedly suffered injuries to his legs, though they were not reported to be life-threatening. He has not been identified at this time.

The damage from the crash caused the power grid in the area to be shut down for about 20 minutes, due to downed power lines. Emergency responders had to wait until the power was down due to the potential danger caused by the downed lines.

It was not reported whether the driver of the tractor-trailer was injured in the crash. It was also not stated whether any citations were issued in the incident.
