EMT Killed and Paramedic Injured in 18-Wheeler Crash

A deadly accident took place Tuesday after an ambulance was involved in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler truck.

An EMT – Michael Collums, 54, was killed in the wreck. His crew member, a paramedic named Raymond Reed, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The wreck took place on Highway 32 in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, where the ambulance was heading west. An eastbound car reportedly slowed down quickly in front of the eastbound 18-wheeler , causing the large truck to swerve out of the way and into the westbound lanes of the road. When the truck swerved it collided head-on with the ambulance.

No injuries were reported for the driver of the 18-wheeler. An investigation into the cause of the accident has not yet been completed.
