Mickey Lynn Burney Killed After Pickup Truck Strikes18-Wheeler

Mickey Lynn Burney, 52, died Monday morning after his pickup truck was involved in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler truck.

The accident occurred on FM 1304 east of Aquilla, Texas, in the Hill Country area at about 8:15 a.m. on Monday. Burney was driving eastbound in a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup when he reportedly drove head-on into a tractor-trailer truck on a curve in the road.

It has not yet been indicated what caused Burney to cross over to the wrong side of the road and crash into the large truck. Both Burney and the driver of the 18-wheeler, Dexter Thomas Deel, 29, were sent to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Hillcrest. Burney died at the hospital after arrival. Deel was still in the hospital on Monday evening being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
