Mohamed Rashid, 29, Killed When 18-Wheeler Veers Into Reservoir

The driver of a tractor trailer died on Tuesday after his truck crashed through side railing on Interstate 85 in Georgia and then went into the Randleman Regional Reservoir.

The 18-wheeler driver, Mohamed Said Rashid, was driving northbound at about 8 a.m. on I-85 when he crashed. Highway Patrol officials have not yet determined what caused him to veer off of the road, and stated that there were no immediate signs of driver error. No other vehicles were reported as being involved.

The crashed resulted in some diesel fuel spilling into the water, though the Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority said it didn’t present a hazard to the community after cleanup efforts ensued.
