Two people were killed just before midnight in Austin following a collision between an 18-wheeler semi truck and an SUV.
According to Austin Police, the crash took place on northbound Interstate 35 near Highway 290, close to Reinli Street and Capital Plaza.
Police stated that for unknown reasons, the SUV was not moving at the time just prior to the wreck. The two passengers in the SUV passed away in the crash after it burst into flames.
The decedents were later identified as 23-year-old Ashley Martinez and her passenger, 15-year-old Eloy Herrera. The incident is still under investigation by APD.
