Savannah Williams, an 18-year-old student at SUNY Geneseo, was killed Tuesday afternoon in a collision involving her vehicle and an 18-wheeler truck. The wreck took place in Geneseo, New York.

According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Williams was driving on Court Street, and drove across an intersection with Route 63 into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, Robert Wilkinson, 24, was not injured in the crash, though he was reportedly shaken up by the events.

Route 63 was shut down for several hours but has since reopened. This particular intersection has recently seen a high rate of accidents, according to Sheriff Tom Dougherty, who stated that since 2014 there have been 8 wrecks here.

Williams was also a member of the SUNY Geneseo women’s basketball team.
