The driver of a tractor-trailer truck was killed Tuesday evening after losing control of his vehicle on the New Jersey Turnpike.
According to police, the unidentified driver lost control of the truck near Linden, New Jersey, causing the truck to crash, flip, and catch fire. The wreck occurred on the northbound Turnpike near exit 13 at about 6:30 p.m.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene after being trapped in his vehicle while the truck was on fire. Police are still investigating the incident, and have not yet reported what exactly caused the driver to lose control.
Lanes on the northbound Turnpike remained closed for over five hours for cleanup and investigation.
