Truck Driver Falls Asleep and Crashes Yet Avoids Injury

The driver of an 18-wheeler fell asleep at the wheel early Monday morning on a highway in Greenville, South Carolina. Though the truck did spill about 200 gallons of diesel gasoline onto the roadway, thankfully no one was injured or killed, including the driver.

According to police, the truck driver was traveling north on I-85 when he fell asleep and lost control of his truck, driving through the guardrail and striking the cement barriers on the exit ramp. It is not indicated whether or not the driver received a citation from police.

Incidents like this show the destructive power that 18-wheelers have when not properly controlled. Driver fatigue is one of the leading causes of 18-wheelers accidents, as drivers are constantly under pressure to make quick deliveries and work long hours. In this case it is extremely lucky that no one was hurt.
